Here is what the NC candidates for the Fairtax have to say!

NOTE** NCFairtax.org does not “endorse” any particular candidates. Instead, we are providing a forum for the candidates that support this legislation to make their own arguments as to why we need The FairTax.

Tom Rose

I support the Fair Tax plan because it will eliminate the need for the IRS and is so much better than our present federal tax system. I believe that it is a system that is fair and just. If elected to Congress I will vote for the Fair Tax plan

Mike Owens

“My campaign motto has been “Transparent Common Sense” and I don’t know if there has EVER been a bill introduced as transparent or makes as much sense as the Fair Tax”

Mike Beitler

Mike Beitler for Congress“The income tax and the IRS must be abolished. No government should punish hard work and savings. If we truly want to stimulate the economy, we must stop discouraging hard work and savings in America. More than 20% of the cost of everything we buy is the embedded cost of the current tax system. The size and complexity of the tax code is a national disgrace. The FairTax is the solution. The FairTax would replace income taxes and payroll taxes with a simple national retail sales tax. Let’s make the FairTax a top priority.”

Jeff Gregory

“I strongly support the FairTax proposal.  I believe it is the best plan for the people, and that it will certainly help all citizens. Fair taxation will put more money in the people’s pocket while still meeting the fiscal needs of the nation. It will be a great relief to see less taxes on the hard working people of North Carolina and our country as a whole. ”

BJ Lawson

I look forward to getting rid of the IRS and income tax, and support the FairTax as a reasonable plan to make the cost of our federal government explicit while removing an unsustainable impediment to job creation and economic growth.

Harold Johnson

“Harold Johnson is an advocate of any tax structure that improves the current system and would be a “Yes” vote for the FairTax.”

Ilario Pantano

“We must stop growing the federal government and increasing the tax burden which crushes innovation and business enterprise and makes U.S. goods uncompetitive in the global market. The current tax system punishes success and disincentivizes growth and private investment, and as such must be overhauled.  A profoundly equitable solution is the Fair Tax, which brings efficiency and transparency to the system while increasing federal revenue and decreasing the labyrinthine complexity of existing tax codes.”

Scott Cumbie

Since 1986, when the income tax code was simplified, Congress has made
over 16,000 changes.  That averages almost 2 changes a day.  The income
tax code is now more than 70,000 pages in size.  It is virtually
impossible for anyone to keep up with the tax code or for anyone to be
certain that they are in compliance.

Imagine how much simpler our lives would be if we did not have to deal
with an income tax system.  Imagine how much money and time each of us
would save if we did not have to fill out a tax return each year.
Imagine how much more secure you would be knowing that you would never
risk being audited by the IRS.  Imagine opening your pay check and
seeing that the total amount on the check is everything that you earned
with no federal deductions.

The income tax system is not only large, difficult and corrupt, worst of
all, it is a drain on our economy.  If all income taxes were eliminated,
including Social Security and Medicare, and replaced with the FairTax,
individuals would have more money to save, invest and spend.  The cost
of conducting business would go down which would allow businesses to
invest back into the business so that they could grow and create new jobs.

Replacing the current income tax system with the FairTax would create an
economic boom unlike anything we have ever seen before.

Tim D’Annunzio

I’m Tim D’Annunzio, conservative Republican for Congress running in North Carolina’s 8th district. As a small business owner, I know that instituting the FairTax is more important now than ever.

The unemployment rate nationwide, and here in North Carolina, is hovering around 10%. I support the FairTax because it is the best way to create jobs and reduce unemployment. Getting rid of the corporate tax rate and putting the FairTax in its place would have an immediate and positive effect on our small businesses and the rate at which they hire new employees.

Let’s stop treating the word “profit” as a dirty word. Businesses aren’t going to start hiring again until they can make a profit, and they aren’t going to make profits when they are forced to pay ever-increasing corporate taxes. Coming from the perspective of a small business owner who has created over 350 jobs right here in North Carolina, we need to pass FairTax legislation immediately. If elected, I plan to make co-sponsoring the FairTax bill one of the first things I do as a Congressman from North Carolina’s 8th District.

Bill Randall, District 13

The term Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is oxymoronic: a) it is NOT a “service,” and b) it does nothing to produce revenue; it only TAXES and seizes revenue.

Our current tax system is not fair, nor is it sustainable as levied by the IRS. More than half of U.S. citizens pay NO federal taxes. This is why I am in favor of phasing-out the IRS while adopting a concept that mirrors or closely parallels the “Fair Tax.”

The Fair Tax places the tax where it belongs: with the end-user. Government bureaucrats prefer the current (IRS) system because keeps the public sector in control of our wallets.

With concepts such as the Fair Tax, government spending would have a limit (and greater level of accountability), and the private sector would become unshackled to experience robust growth and vitality.
